Road Closure Alert: KURA Announces Four-Day Traffic Disruption on Nairobi’s Jogoo and Nyasa Roads

July 15, 2025

Motorists using Jogoo Road and Nyasa Road in Nairobi will experience a four-day traffic disruption from this Friday when the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) begins necessary drainage improvement works.

In a public notice issued on Monday, July 14, KURA announced that both roads will be temporarily closed from 10:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, to 11:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025. The closure will allow for the installation of a culvert, a key part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to modernize Nairobi’s road infrastructure and improve urban drainage.

KURA is appealing to drivers and road users to exercise caution, obey road signs, and adhere to the instructions of officers on site during the construction period.

“Kenya Urban Roads Authority seeks to inform the general public of a temporary traffic disruption along Jogoo Road and Nyasa Road from 10:00 PM on Friday, 18th July 2025 to 11:00 PM on Monday, 21st July 2025,” read the notice.

To ease traffic flow and reduce inconveniences, KURA has deployed police officers and traffic marshals to guide road users and divert them through diversion roads.

The authority once again confirmed that safety is always paramount and encouraged the public to report any issues through its official channels.

“Motorists are advised to exercise caution when approaching the affected section and to follow all road signs provided. Police officers and traffic marshals will be on site to ensure a smooth flow of traffic,” the Authority said.

KURA also highlighted the importance of such infrastructure projects in line with Nairobi’s rapid urban growth, saying they are essential for easing congestion and ensuring safer roads.

As the city continues to expand, KURA reaffirmed its commitment to delivering reliable, efficient, and sustainable urban transport solutions to meet Nairobi’s growing mobility needs.
