The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has shared the 2025 exam schedule for the Diploma in Special Needs Education (SNE), along with some important instructions that candidates should know.
It’s crucial for trainers to ensure that candidates understand these guidelines and the potential consequences of any exam misconduct.
Key Candidate Instructions
Punctuality: Make sure you’re seated at least ten minutes before the exam begins, which is generally at 8:30 a.m., except for KSL practicals that start at 9:00 a.m. If you’re late, you’ll need to explain your delay to the Supervisor. Arriving more than thirty minutes late means you might only be allowed to take the exam under special circumstances.
Verification: Double-check that you have the correct question paper and all necessary materials. If something’s off, let the Supervisor know right away.
Answer Booklet Protocol: Write your name and index number clearly on your answer booklet. Use blue or black ink for your answers, and draw diagrams in pencil. Any rough work should be done in the booklet and left for collection.
Examination Conduct
You’re not allowed to leave the exam room early unless the Supervisor gives you the go-ahead, and you can’t take any exam materials with you. Sharing or copying answers is strictly off-limits.
Only materials authorized by KNEC are allowed in the exam room. Non-programmable calculators are okay, but if you’re unsure about what’s permitted, check with the Supervisor.
Penalties for Irregularities
Individual Misconduct: If you’re caught in any irregularities, your subject results will be canceled, and you’ll get a “Y” grade.
Centre-wide Issues: If there are widespread irregularities, the results for the entire exam center will be nullified.
Unauthorized Access and Damage: Gaining unauthorized access to or damaging exam materials can lead to severe penalties, including imprisonment and fines up to five million shillings.
Impersonation: Sitting an exam for someone else can result in imprisonment and a three-year ban from future KNEC exams.
Stick to these guidelines to help maintain the integrity of the examination process. It’s all about ensuring a fair and honest assessment for everyone involved.
