Lang’ata Cop Shoots Dead Neighbour, Girlfriend and Self

Police officers from Langa’ta police station have opened a probe into a shocking murder-suicide involving one of their colleagues.

Corporal Mark Mulanda, who was attached to Lang’ata police station, reportedly shot dead his neighbour, his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself.

The incident happened at the Cleanshelf Supermarket area of Lang’ata estate on Sunday evening.

Reports indicate corporal Mulanda had just arrived at his night duty station alongside two other colleagues when he told them that he needed to pick p a jacket from his house located inside Mugumoini chief’s camp.

The junior officer had earlier on been heard talking to his girlfriend on the phone.

At the camp, the officer shot his neighbour Fiona Chepkoech aged 37 before entering his house and turning the gun on his girlfriend Rhoda Machuma Chepchumba 28.

It is claimed the neigbour had tried to intervene in their domestic dispute.

“This was after she heard a commotion from the house,” police said.

The officer shot Ms Chepkoech twice and Chepchumba seven times. He then shot himself in the neck.

The gunshots alerted other officers within the camp who found the three lifeless bodies lying on the ground. The bodies were moved to City and Chiromo mortuaries.

Detectives recovered the officer’s AK47 with 20 rounds of ammunition from the scene.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the motive behind the murders.
