The MGM Grand Breaks World Record

February 15, 2023

On February 3, World Record Academy announced that the MGM Grand Las Vegas set a world record as the single largest hotel building.

The MGM Grand Las Vegas lies on 6.6 acres and can currently have 6,852 rooms with waterfalls, pools, and rivers all around the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

This was not, however, an overnight achievement. The MGM Grand Las Vegas has set numerous records since its debut in 1993, including the staggering construction costs of more than $1.1 billion.

MGM Resorts International (the company that owns the MGM Grand) is also breaking new ground as one of the few companies bidding on the development of Japan’s first integrated resort.

The Legacy Behind the Name

The MGM Grand in Paradise, Nevada, first opened its doors on December 18, 1993. The company’s Nevada-based operations alone earned more than $9.68 billion in revenue in 2021.

MGM Resorts International has now opened 29 new hotels in the United States and Macau, providing gaming enthusiasts with world-class amenities and a cutting-edge atmosphere.

MGM Grand, Park MGM, Bellagio, and Aria are the most popular MGM hotels and resorts, each with its own distinct style and top-tier entertainment. The hotels host some of the most exciting poker, blackjack, and slot games, with thousands of slot games available.

Regular poker tournaments are also available.

On January 31, MGM Resort International was recognized by Bloomberg for workplace gender equality.

How Did The MGM Grand Become So Big?

The MGM Grand Las Vegas is a thriving metropolis with plenty of shopping, dining, and casino options. Its expert chefs offer a diverse menu, while the neighboring pools and waterfalls create a vibrant ambiance.

The combination of these features creates a genuinely one-of-a-kind experience at the MGM Grand Las Vegas.

The MGM Grand hotel has been expanded several times since it first opened in 1993. The conference center was built as a result of these renovations and additions in 1996.

The resort has continued to expand and renovate, and it has been the largest hotel in terms of room count since 2019. On February 3, 2023, the World Record Academy officially acknowledged the MGM Grand Las Vegas as the world’s largest single-structure hotel.

MGM Resorts International In Japan

Aside from the existing resorts, MGM intends to open many others around the world. The most interesting plan right now is to build a $10 billion resort in Japan.

At the moment, land-based casinos are not permitted in Japan, and players may only bet at Japanese online casinos, so this is an exciting development for the Japanese nation.

The resort will be developed on an artificial island in the Osaka prefecture. The initial investment is $9.7 billion, and it is expected to be built in the late 2020s.

Bidding For The First Integrated Resort in Japan

MGM Resorts was officially chosen as Osaka’s integrated resort partner on September 28, 2021. According to predictions, the resort will attract more than 20 million people per year. This gigantic resort will also contain over 400,000 square feet of meeting space, as well as 330,000 square feet of exhibition space and an Innovation Laboratory.

Even more intriguing is MGM Resorts International’s intention to develop the 6,000-room hotel on Yumeshima Island’s Osaka Waters. One thing is for certain, we can expect a resort that will be the pinnacle of excitement and elegance.

Final Words

The MGM Grand Las Vegas is a testament to the power of innovation and ingenuity. Their record-breaking success is a reminder of their commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in terms of size and scope.

With the bid to develop Japan’s first integrated resort, it’s clear that the MGM Grand Las Vegas is setting a new standard for world-class entertainment.

As the largest hotel building in the world, it’s no surprise that the MGM Grand Las Vegas continues to break records and redefine the hospitality industry.
