Ruto’s Nominee For Solicitor General Declares His Net Worth

February 24, 2023

The nominee for the position of Solicitor-General, Mr Shadrack John Mose, say his financial net worth is Sh250 million.

John Mose declared his net worth Thursday morning while appearing for vetting before the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs (JLAC).

The Advocate of the High Court said his income is from rentals, land, and shares for his law firm.

Mose said if approved, his first priority is to ensure staff in the state law office are well renumerated commensurate with the heavy workloads.

He expressed concern over the resignations of State Counsels which he attributed to poor working conditions which undermine service delivery and administration of justice.

John Mose also rooted for rigorous training for the officers to boost their capacity to handle complex legal issues.

“I urge this committee to assist us in securing increased budgetary allocation to be able to equip the State Law Office and retain qualified, competent officers. This will also enable us to engage more state counsels, train them locally and internationally to boost their capacity in dealing with complex issues that may arise” he said.

“Look at the registrar of marriages section, the environment is not conducive, the office and other sections are too squeezed. These are some of the issues I want to be addressed” he added.

JLAC will table its report on or before Thursday, March 9, 2023, to enable the House to consider the matter within the statutory timelines.

With over 29 years of legal expertise, Mose holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Law, from the Kenya School of Law, as well as a Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi.

Presently, he is the Managing Partner at M/s. Mose, Mose and Mose Advocates. He previously represented the Kitutu Masaba Constituency in the National Assembly from 2017 to 2022.

If approved, Shadrack Mose will replace Kennedy Ogeto who was appointed to the position in March 2018.

His major function will be to assist the Attorney-General in performing the duties of the Office of the Attorney-General.

President William Ruto nominated Shadrack Mose on February 13th, 2023.
