Radio personality Kamene Goro, like her former Kiss FM cohost Jalang’o, has left mainstream media for digital media.
After her highly publicized exit from the Radio Africa Group-owned station, Kamene Goro is preparing to launch her own YouTube channel.
The media personality announced the move to YouTube in an interaction with her Instagram followers on Sunday. She also shared a countdown indicating the channel dubbed ‘The Real Kamene Goro’ will be ready in about 12 days.
Kamene Goro at the same cautioned her fans against a fake YouTube channel(KameneGoroBabygirl) run by someone impersonating her.
“My Loves, this is not my YouTube channel, this impersonator has been blatantly plagiarizing my content and impersonating me. Please stay woke, this is not me. I’ll be letting you know about my official platforms and channel soon,” Kamene said.
Kamene also spoke about how Jalango influenced her decision to go independent.
She said in as much as she was distraught when the now Langata MP left Kiss FM, she was equally motivated to grow as an individual outside of radio presenting.
“It also challenged me to do other things. Think about self-employment, having my own voice, and creating my own platform where people can also benefit. It challenged me to jump into the deep end, which is where I am at right now,” she said.
Kamene mentioned she started entertaining the idea last year.
“It definitely influenced the change, it’s something I had been thinking about from around last year September,” she said.
Meanwhile, Jalango has since assured Kamene Goro of his support as she embarks on her new venture.
In a message to Kamene following her Kiss FM layoff, Jalas wrote: “Hey siz, I know today a lot is going through your head. Too much emotions, love, and too many questions! Don’t worry! I got you! You will forever have a big brother in me!
“As you start your new journey, know God’s got you! Thank you for the good job, and thank you for your big heart! Thank you for being you! Kamene Goro! KISS 100 Kenya, thank you for the opportunity you gave me to experience this amazing soul! New chapters, new beginning!”
