The alleged plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto is utter nonsense, Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has said.
According to Dr Kibicho, the alleged plan to eliminate DP Ruto stems from unfounded claims as no one has filed a formal complaint.
Speaking on Monday during the commissioning of a borehole at Shauri Moyo Police Station in Nairobi, Kibicho said: “I hear assassinations claims… Who has complained? I am yet to hear someone who has complained. That’s utter nonsense and unfounded claims. We should stop creating things that don’t exist.”
He said the assassination claims should not be dominating headlines as they are useless and baseless.
“We are credited with intelligence and brains, better than what we are hearing. It’s unfortunate we are occupied by media talking about imaginations. We must be a country led by logic and truths, it’s unfortunate that people make conclusions even before investigations. Political interference should not to be accepted,” said the Interior PS.
Adding: “We should stop creating things that don’t exist. The moment we have a formal claim we deal with it in accordance with the law. We will not as a ministry be stopped from doing our work.”
Police are still investigating the assassination claims which have resulted in the arrest and detention of Dennis Itumbi. The State House digital director allegedly faked a letter purporting to expose the said plan to eliminate the DP before the 2022 presidential elections.
