Moses Kuria Defends Tuju Against DP Ruto, “Don’t Shoot the Messenger”

July 15, 2019

Amid the reported wrangles within the ruling party Jubilee, Deputy President William Ruto yesterday dropped a bombshell when hit out at the party’s secretary-general Raphael Tuju over his alleged new role in the opposition camp.

Taking to his official Twitter account, Ruto expressed shock at reports that Tuju was the new political strategist for Opposition chief Raila Odinga.

“So our democracy is so liberal that the SG of the ruling party has become the chief strategist of the opposition!! Maajabu,” tweeted Dr Ruto.

Tuju was on Saturday quoted by the Daily Nation speaking about the Uhuru-Raila handshake and the new friendship between him and the ODM leader.

“Any mobilisation against a tribe is not welcome in my scheme of thought. Right now the President is talking about the Big Four agenda plus fighting corruption and uniting the country and Raila is the interlocutor with the president as far as this is concerned. That is goal which is in tandem with my own beliefs,” said Tuju.

He added, “I have no interest whatsoever of becoming the governor of Siaya for example or MP for Rarieda. I have stated it before and I state it again. From the time I left active politics, I went back to private endeavors which kind of confine me to Nairobi.”

Jumping to Tuju’s defense following Ruto’s jibe, Moses Kuria told the DP not to shoot the messanger.

The controversial Gatundu South MP alluded that the ruling party Jubilee is dead as a result of the famous handshake.

“Dear my good friend Deputy President William Ruto. Jubilee went into political bankruptcy on the 9th of March 2018. The nature and configuration of Kenya’s politics forced us into Article 11 Bankruptcy,” Kuria wrote on Facebook.

He added, “Raphael Tuju is only a Receiver-Manager. Don’t attack the messenger please.”
