Bomet Governer and the first female governor in Kenya Joyce Laboso has died.
Laboso succumbed to cancer at Nairobi Hospital, where she had been put on life support.
She has been at the hospital for about 2 weeks, after arriving from India. Before that, she was been treated in the United Kingdom.
Earlier today, news of her worsening condition was announced, with the family and hospital saying that they were restricting the number of visitors.
It is unclear what kind of cancer she has been ailing, and until today, it was not even public knowledge that cancer is what she had.
Laboso was only 58 years old.
Deputy Governor Hillary Barchok will now run county affairs.
The governor’s death comes just days after cancer took away the life of Kibra MP Ken Okoth, and just weeks after Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore suffered a similar fate.
May she rest in peace.
Here are some messages of condolence.
