Eleven suspects accused of shooting pornographic videos in Nyali, Mombasa County were arraigned in court Tuesday.
The suspects – 10 women and a man – denied the charges before Shanzu Law Courts Principal Magistrate Florence Maina. Nine of the ten women were released on a bond of Kes50,000 and surety of a similar amount or a cash bail of Kes20,000.
The remaining two suspects, who are said to be running the online porn business, were freed on a bond of Kes100,000 and surety of a similar amount or a cash bail of Kes50,000.
The two – Merceline Atieno Onyango and Enock Elisha Ochieng -were charged with an additional charge of earning a living through proceeds of prostitution.
According to the police, the duo operates on an online webcam platform called “Chat Bate” in conjunction with an international media company called Multi Media LLC.
The other nine suspects include Mariam Hamza Makbul, Dolly Kanana, Laureen Achieng Ariwo, Salma Makeri Njeri, Knight Aluoch Otieno and Faith Mbesa Mwatani.
Others are Diana Wairimu Muthoni, Anita Mburu Wanjiru, and Christine Mueni Mutua.
The case will be mentioned on July 30 and hearing on November 25, 2019.
