Media personality Janet Mbugua has taken a temporary break from social media.
Following weeks of advocating for improved menstrual health management policies in the country, the former Citizen TV news presenter announced her hiatus on Saturday.
Janet Mbugua told her over 920,000 followers on Instagram that she was taking the much-needed break to be “present offline”. Without revealing how long she will be inactive, Janet noted that it will only be for a short while.
The mother of two also thanked everyone who participated in her cause on health and gender rights.
“It’s been such an incredible week! A lot of it spent online and now it’s time to be present offline, at least for a bit. A huge thank you to you who’ve participated in such key conversations around social issues, particularly on health and gender rights.
“A special thanks to those who’ve signed and shared my petition. Let’s get more signatures on there! The more the voices, the better the progress. I’m bummed that I won’t make it to the Women Deliver Conference in Vancouver this year, due to unavoidable circumstances. For our national champions going, like @nicelengete and @josephinekulea among others, make us proud! To all of you, Happy Madaraka Day 2019, see you all soon!” she wrote.
In March, Janet Mbugua was also heavily involved in raising awareness about endometriosis as Kenya joined the world to mark the 6th Annual Worldwide Endometriosis March (EndoMarch).
