A middle-aged man is in police custody after he was allegedly caught in the act with a secondary school student in Kitengela.
There was drama at the town after word went round that the man was spotted booking a lodging with the student who was still in school uniform. Authorities from nearby Kitengela Police Station reportedly raided the lodging and caught the two in the act.
Police ordered the randy lovers to dress up as a large crowd milled around the premises to witness the proceedings. Reportedly, the officers had a hard time controlling the onlookers and were forced to cover the two lovers with bed sheets into a waiting police car.
The suspect, 23-year-old Patrick Kamau told the Standard he has been in love with the girl for two years.
“I have been having an affair with this girl for two years now, but all I know is that she is over 18 years,” said Kamau.
But the schoolgirl said she would be turning 17 next week. “This is my boyfriend we just came here to have fun,” she said as quoted.
One of the officers said they were acting on a tip-off from an informer who had followed the couple from the bus stage.
”We are very determined to end these illicit love affairs that go on in this town. This is not the first case,’‘ said the officer.
Area locals condemned the act and applauded the police for acting swiftly.
“We are very grateful to police who have acted very fast, however, we want to see justice prevail. This girl is a minor,” said Lukas ole Parshina, a resident.
