Form Three Girl on Midterm Break Kills Boyfriend, 21, in Homa Bay

February 19, 2019

A 16-year-old student is in police custody for attacking and killing her boyfriend in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County.

The girl, a Form three student at a boarding school in Ndhiwa, stabbed Mr Denis Manyuro who worked as a casual labourer at a local farm owned by the uncle to the suspect.

The area chief Patrick Lumumba on Monday said the student arrived home on Friday evening for the midterm school break.

He said the family of the student heard a commotion coming from the back of the house which prompted them to rush to the scene where they found Mr Manyuro’s body in a pool of blood.

The deceased suffered stab wounds in the chest, the police said. He died on the spot.

Detectives suspect the kitchen knife used by the girl may have pierced his internal organs.

Homa Bay County Police Commander Esther Seroney said forensic analysis confirmed the kitchen knife was the murder weapon.

Ms Seroney urged students not to engage in love affairs to prevent such incidents.

The body of the deceased was taken to the morgue at the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital for postmortem.
