A seven-year-old boy who was reported missing last week Friday in Bondo, Siaya County has been found dead.
The body of Geoffrey Otieno, who had been missing from their home in Usenge sub-location for two days, was found on Sunday evening, in a bush at Pap-Komenya grounds, less than one kilometer from Usenge town.
Area Assistant Chief Manasse Osuri said the body was discovered by children who had gone to play at Pap-Komenya before they smelled some foul odour emanating from the bush.
The Chief said the children then raised an alarm that attracted members of the public.
Speaking to Radio Ramogi, Mr Osuri said that members of the public alerted the police who reported to the scene. The body, which had genitals chopped off, was moved to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary after identification.
“The motive behind the small boy’s murder has not yet been established,” Mr Osuri said adding that, “we suspect that the boy might have been murdered elsewhere before his body was brought and dumped in that bush.”
Investigations have been launched to establish the motive behind the killing.
