Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja last Sunday extended his philanthropic hand to a man who was dumped by his fiancée a few days to their wedding for being broke.
As the story goes, the hopeful bachelor was jilted by his spouse after she discovered that he was broke and could not afford to finance their wedding.
Upon learning of his plight, Sakaja stunned congregants in a church when he gifted the jilted man with Sh50,000 on the spot.
Sakaja said that he was one of their own even if he had been rejected and even offered his Prado to ferry the man during his wedding with his new catch.
“Nimesikia story ambayo imenigusa. Kuna yule kijana ambaye alikuwa amekataliwa…. kuja (he says while beckoning the unidentified man)… huyu… huyu ni wetu… huyu in wetu. Kama wamekukata tumekuchukuwa na tumekukubali. Na huyu arusi yake kwanza atabebwa na gari yangi,” Sakaja is heard saying in a video that is going viral on social media.
“Nataka kumpatia fifty thousand imsadie na mpango. Hiyo ni fifty thousand, ikusaidie kwa kupanga harusi.”
The tearful man, who was visibly overwhelmed by Sakaja’s deeds, could only hug the senator.
Sakaja further pledged to top up the man’s monthly salary of Sh15,000 with an equal amount.
“Najua ulisema (to the pastor) utampatia kazi. Na hiyo kazi mimi nitaongeza, hiyo unamlipa fifteen thousand, nitaongeza fifteen thousand juu yake kila mwezi,” Sakaja added.
