Laikipia Governor Sacks Aide for Showing Interest in His Seat

govDo you work for a governor? Make sure you do not express interest in the big seat during his tenure. John Mwaniki, Laikipia’s County Secretary learnt that the hard way.
Governor Joshua Irungu has sacked him for expressing interest in his seat.
Mr. Mwaniki was instructed to hand over the office to the director of Planning, Charles Nderitu, who held the position initially.
John Wambugu, the Governor’s Chief of Staff, said that Mr. Mwaniki was undermining the appointing authority.
“It reached a point where the Governor had to act and asked the county public service board to investigate him,” Wambugu said.
Just a few months ago, Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua sacked his Chief of Staff for showing interest in the governorship. He however took legal action and the court rule he be compensated Sh2 million.
