Boniface Mwangi made some comments on Twitter yesterday that got us thinking. Can Kenya go the Uganda way?
During the recently concluded general elections in Uganda, the government shut down social media, namely Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp more than once.
It was under the guise of peace and stability.
Social media has been blamed for spreading hate in Kenya, and it would be a surprise if the idea of suppressing it hasn’t crossed the government’s mind.
Boniface Mwangi thinks they will shut it down next year.
