In what could be the greatest news for Kenyan gooners, Harambee Stars midfield enforcer Victor Wanyama has revealed that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is on his radar.
The 23 year old Southampton player has been made aware of the gunner’s interest and has admitted to The Sun that he is keen to play for a club in the Champions League.
“Wenger has been talking about me. And he has let it be known he would like to sign me this summer,” Wanyama told The Sun.
“Arsenal are a great club and I’d love to play Champions League football as I loved being on that stage with Celtic.
“But we’ve had a fantastic season at Saints and I want to stay focused on helping the club qualify for Europe. Then we’ll see where I end up in the summer.”
It has been reported that Tottenham are also interested in Wanyama and the former Celtics player says he is open to a move to Arsenal’s bitter rivals.
“If I get the chance, maybe,” he added. “You never know what will happen in the future. It’s nice to be linked with other clubs as it means I’m playing well.”
UPDATE: In a series of tweets, Wanyama has denied speaking to Wenger.
Sorry – was caught off guard this morning about a story that I hadn’t read. To put it straight:

We all respect Arsenal but right now I’m only focussed on helping Saints to have a strong finish to the season.

The newspaper article does not say that I have spoken to Wenger or anyone else from Arsenal – and that’s the truth.

We are doing so well and what other managers think of me as a player is totally out of my control.
