This morning, suspected Al Shabaab militants attacked Garissa University College.
Information is scanty, but reports have it that at least 8 people have been killed, including 2 guards manning the institution. Kenya Red Cross states that at least 30 people, including 2 policemen were rushed to hospital with bullet wounds.
There have been reports that students have been taken hostage, but nothing is confirmed.
In a statement to the media, IG Joseph Boinnet said that the attackers shot indiscriminately while inside the university. He however urged Kenyans to remain calm as the police fight the militants.
