I don’t know how long Africa plans on being the muddy continent, but with the kinds of leaders we keep electing, you can bet it will be for a while.
In this photo, you can see Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan’s makeshift pathway with a red carpet. Creative thinking but very unnecessary if you ask me. It is said that the late Sankara refused to use the AC in his office out of guilt that most of his countrymen could not afford the same. I don’t think we’ll see any similar leader in Africa ever.

Speaking of mud, DRC President Joseph Kabila does not have the luxury of makeshift red carpet pathways. A few months ago, his car got stuck in mud forcing him to get out and be helpful.
