Another Blow For Music Industry As Mashifta’s G-Wiji Passes On

April 15, 2014

mashifta1It’s more sad news for the Kenyan music industry, having lost yet another celebrated artist. Last week, the industry lost gospel artiste Kaberere, and this week one half of hip hop group Mashifta has passed on. News of Moseti Kamanda popularly known as G-Wiji passing, broke out on Sunday. The cause of death is believed to be a hit and run accident on Thika Superhighway.
G-Wiji was among the pioneers of Hip hop music in Kenya and together with fellow rapper Kitu Sewer, they brought you tracks such as System Ya Majambazi, Pesa Pombe Siasa Na Wanawake and Unga. The Dandora based group was popular with hardcore rap fans for their socially and politically conscious lyrics and were hugely influenced by Kalamashaka.
Despite fading from the limelight, his death will be felt by many. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Here’s one of their more popular track System Ya majambazi
