March 24, 2014

lupita_tears_oscars_E1A school in Dandora estate, Nairobi, has been renamed in honour of Oscar winner, Lupita Nyong’o.
Formerly known as Eagles Safe Hand Education Centre, the private school will now be known as Lupita Bright Stars Educational Centre. According to the school’s founder, Alice Anyasi Shiangala that was her way of celebrating Lupita.
“I decided to rename my school after watching Lupita’s father, Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o, being interviewed by Jeff Koinange on KTN. I was touched by her story. She is a true star who deserves better recognition. She has brought fame to our country,” she told The Nairobian.
“I talked to my husband about changing the school’s name and he agreed. We are now working on the legal process, including replacing old sign posts and banners.”
The school is also set for expansion.
