Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo has refused to apologise following his recent claims that unmarried women are problematic to society and should not seek public office.
Speaking on Sunday, Kabogo disregarded popular opinion that he should apologize to Kenyan women, saying the constitution guarantees him the freedom of speech. Reacting to Leader of Majority, Aden Duale’s warning that Kabogo was embarrassing President Uhuru Kenyatta and would face the sack, Kabogo said that no one can intimidate him.
Kabogo’s controversial statement is believed to have been directed at Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a, who is said to be fuelling rebellion against the governor.
