Nation Media Group CEO Linus Gitahi has apologized for Sunday Nation’s gory photo on the frontpage.
The paper came under attack for their decision to use an image of a woman covered in blood.
Kenyans on Twitter started the hashtag #BoycottDailyNation, but that never worked on the ground, as most newspaper stalls ran out of the paper quite early.
Interior Secretary Joseph ole Lenku, in a press briefing, also attacked the paper for their actions.
Sunday Live presenter Julie Gichuru went as far as urging the family of the victim to sue the paper.
On Twitter, Linus Gitahi apologized to those it may have hurt, admitting they made a poor judgment.
Kenyans, we made a poor judgement on our front page photo today. We sincerely apologize for the hurt caused.
