It seems like just the other day when Sauti Sol started rocking our airwaves with awesome music. The afro pop band was formed back in 2005 by Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano and Delvin Mudigi as an acapella group.
The fourth member, Polycarp Otieno joined before they named themselves Sauti. The band later added the Spanish word Sol and formed Sauti Sol meaning ‘Voices in the sun.’
They are now one of the hottest bands in the Africa and have toured the world including Europe and the U.S.
They however were not always the fresh looking guys they are. On social media, Bien Aime shared a less than flattering photo from when the struggle was real.
He captioned it:
“Who on God’s green earth are these guys…. Waaaaaaaaah and @savarafrica what kind of pose is that! And the way this day we thought we looked hot!!! Smh Poverty is a bastard. This was actuatlly #SAUTI we were not yet called sautisol. This picture represents everything we have ever struggled for. @iamchimano i see you there striking your #HUNGERPOSE. Hahahahahahahahah sema kutoka mbali!!!!!”
