Francis Gachuri Bids Farewell to His Second Family: “I’m not Going to Another Media House”

March 2, 2023

Citizen TV’S political editor Francis Gachuri gave a heartfelt farewell to his colleagues as he announced his exit from the Royal Media Services(RMS)-owned station.

The celebrated journalist is leaving RMS after 16 years, during which time he served in different capacities, including as a newsreader on RMS’s vernacular subsidiary, Inooro TV.

Gachuri also hosted Inooro TV’s number-one political talk show Kiririmbi between 8 pm and 9 pm.

The journo said his goodbyes on Wednesday morning during a weekly Editorial team meeting. He said he will be leaving RMS end of this week to take up a job as the Head of Communications in the Ministry of Interior.

“On September 1, 2007, I joined RMS as a political reporter. 5,660 days later, I announce my exit to take up another national assignment. I am grateful and humbled by the many experiences, lessons, and opportunities I have had in the industry,” he said as quoted by Citizen TV.

Gachuri said he now has two families having joined Citizen TV as a young bachelor.

“I have called this place home, when I came here, I was a young man, who did not even have a family then. All my major milestones have happened while I was here. Now I have two families, my wife and kids and as well as the RMS family that includes my colleagues, our viewers, listeners and readers.”

He also squeezed in a joke, assuring his colleagues that: “I am not going to another media house.”

“I thank God for everything. I have the rare privilege of working with the very best in the industry. My colleagues are the best. Team excellence. The invaluable guidance of my bosses will always be truly appreciated,” Gachuri added.

In his new role, the Senior Political Reporter will be responsible for creating, delivering, and evaluating communication activities that lead to the effective positioning and promotion of trust within the Interior Ministry.

Francis Gachuri will also manage all internal and external communications channels within the Ministry of Interior and National Coordination.
