Deputy President William Ruto was in a bullish mood as he took his campaign rallies to Bungoma on Thursday.
The DP had some words for his political opponents, challenging them to face him man to man instead of hiding behind President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Si mnaona hawa wanaume vile wanapangana, wengine wanapangana corner fulani, wengine corner fulani lakini hakuna mwenye ako tayari kuja kuface mimi. Hawa wote wameenda kujificha nyuma ya Uhuru Kenyatta. Kama ni wanaume si watoke nyuma ya Uhuru wakuje wapambane na mimi,” Ruto said.
DP Ruto further faulted his competitors for confusing Kenyans saying they cannot be trusted to unite the country.
“Mnaona hawa wanaume kila mtu ako hapo na chama yake. Sasa nyinyi mtaunganisha Kenya namna gani kama kila mtu ako na chama yake? Si hio ni confusion? Mara chama hii, mara chama hii…” the DP added.
Ruto additionally told his rivals to announce their candidate as time was running out.
“Na msikuje bure, kwanza watengeneze candidate waache kuzubaazubaa, mkisema hamjui ni huyu, mara ni huyu… hii mtapoteza wakati alafu mkishindwa muanze kusema mara kura imeibiwa,” he said.
Ruto was not done there. He ridiculed the other presidential aspirants saying that the 2022 contest is not a beauty pageant.
“Si mtu unampatia kazi yule ameonekana anajua kupanga kazi na kufanya kazi? Kwani utapigia mtu kwa sababu ako na sura mzuri? Hii hapana mashindano ya urembo, ni mashindano ya kazi,” he said.
