Officers in Murang’a on Monday arrested a member of the Murang’a County Assembly for defrauding a woman Sh.3 million.
Peter Mburu Muthoni, the MCA for Kagunduini Ward, is also facing charges of making a document without authority.
Mr Mburu reportedly pretended that he could offer the woman a tender to supply ballast to a Chinese company.
Together with others he had introduced as an ‘Engineer’ and a ‘senior staff’ at the Chinese company, the MCA forged an agreement for the supply of ballast and in the process, they defrauded the victim the said amount.
Mburu is set to be arraigned in court today, Tuesday 2, February 2019.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations stated that detectives are in pursuit of the other two suspects.
