Police in Kisumu are investigating the circumstances that led to the death of an 18-year-old girl whose decomposing body was discovered inside her boyfriend’s house.
According to area chief, Elijah Otieno Omumbo, they suspect the Form Three student at Nyalunya Mixed Secondary School was killed by her boyfriend who was also her classmate.
The area administrator said curious neighbours reported to the village elder about a pungent smell and flies coming from the suspect’s rental house in Kolwa Central ward.
Police who reported to the scene broke into the house and found the decomposing body of the girl covered with a mattress.
Speaking to Ramogi, the Chief revealed that there were visible blood stains on the floor of the house.
Chief Otieno said the suspect is currently admitted at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) after he reportedly tried to commit suicide following the incident.
The deceased’s body was moved to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
