Wedding bells are ringing for Jacque Maribe following her surprise engagement over the weekend.
The Citizen TV senior reporter on Saturday said ‘yes’ to her boyfriend, Joe aka Jowi, in a well calculated romantic proposal at a city restaurant.
As the story goes, the proposal was organised by Jowi with help from Maribe’s besties, Terryanne Chebet, Shix Kapienga and Monica Kiragu.
What was supposed to be lunch with the ladies turned into a big moment in the journalist’s life; she was even moved to tears when Jowi went down on one knee and popped the big question as Kidum serenaded the proposal with a romantic jingle.
Jacque confirmed the engagement, writing: “I get to ‘do life’ with my best friend, my teammate, my partner in everything!!! You make life absolutely beautiful, every single day. To us.”
In saying ‘yes’, Jacque, who has for the longest time managed to keep her love life private, dealt a huge blow to her many admirers, including State House Digital Director Dennis Itumbi.
Ever since the two were photographed in an awkward-looking smooch in 2015, they have been unable to shake off speculation linking them romantically.
Dennis Itumbi appeared to confirm his helpless crush on Maribe when he surprised her with a birthday cake in the middle of a live news broadcast.
While they may have denied all links and claimed to be “Just Friends”, we all know better: Dennis Itumbi tried too hard and was subsequently friend zoned.
He also appeared to concede defeat when he sent the newly-engaged Maribe a congratulatory message on social media.
“May Laughter fill your path. May you Live to enjoy life and share the beauty of your love with Jowi. Congratulations buddy!” wrote Itumbi.
Jacque replied: “Thanks Dennis. I hear you are allegedly serving pilau soon and that you were allegedly linked to me.”
Dennis continued: “am telling you. Niko kwa line-up au sio?
Then Jacque responded: “ebu we ask Jowi at this rate…but seriously when will this joke that we were apparently a couple ever end?”
