The University of Nairobi(UoN) is Kenya’s top higher education institution, a recent study reveals.
According to the report by University Ranking by Academic Performance(URAP), Moi University came second in the country. In East Africa, UoN was ranked at position two and Moi at position four.
Worldwide, UoN is ranked at position 1,264 with Moi taking a distant position 2,006.
The ranking tool, which places Havard University as the best in the world, placed Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(Jkuat) and Kenyatta University third and fourth in Kenya respectively.
In the continent, UoN was ranked at position 31, Moi (72), Jkuat (86) and Kenyatta University at position 93.
The best performing Higher Education Institute in Africa was the University of Cape Town. Uganda’s Makerere University emerged 10th in Africa.
The worst performing learning institution was Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates at position 2,500.
URAP’s ranking system is based on academic quality and focuses on the number of publications, articles, citation, total documents, article impact total, citation impact total and international collaboration.
The ranking system focuses on academic quality and is completely based on objective data obtained from reliable open sources.
URAP has gathered data from about 3,000 Higher Education Institutes (HEI) in an effort to rank these organizations by their academic performance.
