Have the rumours of his transformation been greatly exaggerated? Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, now gubernatorial aspirant, is still very much in touch with his flashy youth.
In the past few weeks Sonko has been stepping out in suits, looking all professional and mature. His famous interview on Jeff Koinange Live was the first time Kenyans saw this side of him. It was rumoured that he had hired former media personality turned communication and image expert Cynthia Nyamai to help with the transformation.
But will Sonko sustain this new look? How long before he returns to character?
This week we saw a glimpse of the old him when he met his running mate Polycarp Igathe at some office building.

He returned to his casual self, stepping out in jeans, a hood and get this… a pair of shoes worth Sh180,000.
The shoe in question is the Adidas Pharrell Williams HUMAN RACE NMD. It is part of a collection designed by the ‘Happy’ singer himself.
The shoe retails online for $1,750 (Sh180,000).
