President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday officially opened the English Point Marina, in the coastal city of Mombasa.
The 4-acre ocean view, multi-million dollar marina resort features a 26-room hotel, conferencing facility, a roof-top restaurant, a casino, swimming pool, 96 serviced apartments – including 8 penthouses – seafront restaurant, gym and spa, as well as a boardwalk with retail outlets, water-sports centre and fully-serviced 88-berth marina.
The iconic landmark is expected to put Kenya on the map of the luxury yacht market and open up Kenya to the high-end international ocean travelers.
President Kenyatta was accompanied by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, as well as a host of other Cabinet Secretaries and senior government officials.
He was also joined by his wife, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta. There was an eye catching moment when the couple shared a sweet public display of affection with a hug and peck that left the Head of State blushing.
