Candidates who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination can now download official digital copies of their credentials following a new directive by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
Candidates can access the digital certificates directly via the online KNEC e-certificate portal. These credentials serve as officially recognized, legally valid documents suitable for employment, university admissions, scholarships, and other administrative uses. Powered by blockchain technology and built to international W3C digital credential standards, the tamper-evident certificates remain valid indefinitely and allow instant verification by third parties.
To acquire an e-certificate, candidates need to navigate to the portal and create an account under the “Student/Alumni” registration option. Once registered, users validate their email addresses through a one-time password (OTP) and complete their profile verification using National Identity Card details.
Candidates then select the “Download E-Certificate” tab, specify KCSE as the exam type, and input “2025” alongside their official index number. The portal generates a preliminary preview containing the candidate’s registered name, school, and median grade. After confirming these details, applicants pay a processing fee of Sh1,500 via eCitizen to receive the digital document via email and save it to their portal dashboard.
