ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga said a coalition between the party and President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will secure 17 million votes in the 2027 General Election.
While leading the ODM youth league celebrations in Mashuuru, Kajiado County, Wanga and other party leaders expressed confidence that the combined support would be enough to win the presidential election in the first round.
“If ODM and UDA combine our votes, we will have about 17 million votes. That is why we have said we must work together,” Wanga said.
National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed also used the event to dismiss claims by the opposition that it held greater numerical strength.
“Every region that stood with Raila Odinga will not be left behind,” Mohamed said.
Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi added that a presidential bid requires support from across the country.
“If you want to become the President of Kenya, you must seek votes from every corner of the country, down to every ward. You cannot rely on just one constituency,” he said.
The ODM leaders said they will continue holding rallies nationwide to strengthen the party and protect its traditional support base, amid concerns about infiltration by rival political parties.
“From now on, we will not relent. We will tour every corner of Kenya to strengthen ODM so that when the time comes, we have a seat at the table and receive our rightful share,” Wanga said.
Another group of ODM leaders from Western Kenya set up camp in Cherangany, Trans Nzoia County, to mobilise support for President William Ruto’s second-term bid.
The leaders said the Western region has strong potential to produce the next Deputy President in 2027.
“We have come together as partners in the broad-based government, and we have fronted our deputy party leader, Wycliffe Oparanya, as the best candidate for deputy president,” Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali said.
Other party officials shared the same view, adding that they will prioritize mobilizing voters to help Ruto win re-election.
“We are going to ensure that we deliver votes for President Ruto,” ODM Secretary-General Rachael Omamo said.
