Mandonga Vs Wanyonyi Rematch Set For March in Nairobi

February 24, 2023

Kenyan boxer Daniel Wanyonyi will next month have a chance to exact revenge on popular Tanzanian boxer Karim “Mtu Kazi” Mandonga.

The two pugilists came to blows last month in a much-hyped boxing match at the KICC in Nairobi, with ‘Mtu Kazi’ emerging victorious with a technical knockout in the fifth round of the 10-round super middleweight bout.

Mandonga was set to take on Raymond “King Kong” Ochieng next, but the US-based Kenyan boxer needed to lose around 15kgs in under a month, which proved improbable.

The Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC) has thus scheduled a rematch between Mandonga and Wanyonyi.

KPBC President  Reuben Ndolo confirmed the rematch for March 18 at the Tsavo Ball Room, KICC.

“Wanyonyi has been training hard and this is his chance to prove himself as a top boxer. Rayton “Boom Boom” Okwiri, Fatuma Zarika, and UAE-based Nick “Makaveli” Mwangi are also set to take to the ring pending agreements with the promoter and their managers,” Ndolo announced.
