A fire in Kibra that destroyed 40 houses and left 100 people homeless was started by a scorned lesbian lover, police have intimated.
The suspect reportedly found her lover with another woman on Sunday leading to a scuffle that left one of them with serious injuries. Locals and authorities who spoke to Capital News said the suspect was angered by her lover’s betrayal.
The injured woman was rushed to the hospital by “her newfound lover”, Capital News reports.
The suspect, who is said to be a foreigner, then proceeded to set the house on fire, with the fire quickly spreading through the highly populated slum.
According to area Chief Hilary Chumo, about 100 people were left without a place to call home.
“The firefighters were not able to access the area due to lack of roads,” the administrator said.
Police are said to be hot on the heels of the suspect who is wanted for arson.
