In Photos: Kirinyaga Bride Rides Donkey-Cart on her Wedding Day

July 10, 2019

If you thought the famous Sh100 wedding of 2017 was eyecatching, wait until you see the latest newlyweds who have defied wedding stereotypes.

Mr Boniface Kiarie and Ms Mary Wawira, from Kirinyaga county, brought Kutus town to a complete standstill as they snaked to their wedding venue in two animal-drawn carts.

The bride, dressed in her white wedding dress and flanked by her best maid, rode in a donkey-cart, while the groom and his best man opted for an ox-cart.

The wedding convoy covered about 3 kilometers from Ndomba village to Kutus town, escorted by Boda Boda operators and some vehicles.

The groom, who is the manager of leisure Hotels in the town, said they decided to use the archaic mode of transportation to cut on costs.

“I also wanted to tell those who believe in lavish weddings only to start crying after the guests leave that a simple one was still good enough as long as it accomplishes one’s wishes and aspirations,” he said as he rode the embellished Ox-cart to the local Full Gospel Church.

The photos.
