A lawyer was on Tuesday arraigned in court for allegedly stealing Sh600,000 from his client.
The suspect – George Mugambi Gituma- appeared before Isiolo Law Courts Chief Magistrate Samuel Mungai. He was accused of stealing the said amount from one Rashid Maalim Isaack.
The court was told that on April 23, 2018, Mr. Mugambi – being an agent of Mr. Maalim at Pasis Insurance Company, Meru Branch – stole Sh600,000 which he was entrusted by the company to deliver to his client.
Additionally, the lawyer was accused of issuing a bank cheque of Sh.200, 000 to the complainant on May 2, 2019, despite knowing that his account had insufficient funds.
Mr Mugambi denied both charges and freed on a cash bail of Sh200,000 or a bond of Sh300,000 and a surety of a similar amount.
The matter will be mentioned on July 2, 2019.
