Detectives have released CCTV footage of an alleged terror suspect who carried an IED along Latema road on January 26.

Police are thereby appealing to members of the public to help identify the man in the footage.

The clip that was shared through the Directorate of Criminal Investigation twitter account shows a man of Somali origin walking past stalls in the Nairobi city centre with a boxed package in hand. He is clad in a black hoodie and grey sweatpants.

“DCI Detectives investigating the LatemaRd IED Explosion are appealing for the public’s help in identifying the person circled on the video below. The suspected IED went off outside Smothers Restaurant at the Tom Mboya – Latema Road intersection in Nairobi leaving two people injured.

According to Nairobi regional police commander Philip Ndolo, the man of Somali descent had hired a trolley pusher to move a carton box from Latema road to Kenya Cinema when the luggage went off.
