Video footage has emerged online showing the moment a motorist was rescued from flash floods in Ruai, east of Nairobi.
The one-minute clip shows a man, believed to be one of the passengers in the car, standing atop the submerged vehicle as area residents urge him to jump to safety.
From what we can gather, two other passengers managed to escape the raging floods.
The incident happened at the Ruai bypass junction on Tuesday morning after overnight heavy rains caused flooding in the area and various parts of the city.
In the clip, area residents came to the stranded man’s rescue as he precariously perched on top of a white car that was moments away from being swept by the raging floods.
They threw him a rope as another brave man tested the flood’s depth to establish a safe landing spot for the motorist to jump.
Thanks to the incredible and spontaneous teamwork and the man’s jumping skills, he made it to safety.
