Kenya’s SportPesa AllStars lost against Select Hull City 2 – 1, thanks to an 11th-minute goal by Elliot Holmes and an own goal by Haron Shakava 66th minute.
Tusker midfielder Humphrey Mieno then scored the consolation for the Stanley Okumbi coached outfit towards the end of the game played on Monday February 27, at KCOM Stadium.
The Hull City team, which was mainly composed of players from the club’s U23s, U18s and U16s sides, dominated the match’s first half.
On the other hand, Ulinzi Stars striker John Mark Makwatta combined well with Tusker’s Allan Wanga upfront but Hull City defenders stood tall.
The match stopped for over 10 minutes from the 11th-minute mark when Wesley Onguso and Max Sheaf went for the ball seeing the latter being stretchered out of the field for treatment.
As expected, the historic match provided excitement galore to many Kenyans, some of whom took to twitter to share their reactions. In characteristic Kenyans on Twitter fashion, the jokes were streaming in.
We have sampled some reactions:
