On Monday, Dr. Evans Kidero paid a visit to Westgate Mall to inspect the ongoing construction.
The Nairobi governor, in his statement about the progress revealed that the front entrance of the Mall is set for opening on the 1st of July this year. The back will however be opened by the end of this year ahead of full occupation in 2016.
This is what he posted:
“Today I visited the ongoing construction of the West Gate Mall in the company of my Lands and Physical Planning County Executive Tom Odongo and County Executive roads and Transport Mohamed Abdulahi.
I am happy that the front entrance of the Mall is set for opening on the 1st of July this year. While the back of the Mall which is currently undergoing construction will be opened at the end of the year. The building is set for full occupation in 2016.
Terrorists could have succeded in maiming and killing our loved ones but they did not succeed to kill our spirit and resolve to rebuild as a nation. They only succeeded in giving us the strength to continue. I will ensure the Mall is restored to its former glory and to continue being an avenue for Kenyan businesses to thrive and provide employment to Kenyans.
The half kilometre road construction commences immediately. This road that joins Peponi road is earmarked for completion in September will greatly ease traffic congestion.”
