Kenyatta University Goes To The Polls Today

Kenyatta University is holding it’s students’ elections today. This annual exercise will see the students elect new leaders to fill different positions in the university’s Students Association (KUSA).
Among the seats being contested for are: President, Vice President, Secretary General, Gender and Social Welfare Secretary, Special needs Secretary, Schools’ Congressmen, among others.

Last week, the Nairobian newspaper reported that the university dean had barred two students from contesting for the Secretary General’s position. Allegedly they were ‘playing tribal politics’. Their disqualification came after several student complained about their activities. They are now set to appear before the disciplinary committee. 

The university has assured student that the elections will be free and fair.
