So yesterday we told you how this fan had written an open letter to gospel artiste Gloria Muliro, protesting her blatant theft of another artist’s lyrics. Apparently, the chorus of Gloria’s song ‘Follow You’ is very similar to ‘I will follow’, by American Chris Tomlin.
Gloria now suggests that the wording of the chorus has nothing to do with the American, and everything to do with the Bible. In a Facebook post yesterday, the singer points out where the inspiration for her song came from, and the Bible it is, specifically the book of Ruth 1:16-17.
In the verse, Naomi asks Ruth to follow her sister in law, to which she responds with the chorus’ words.
But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” NIV
The artist went further to provide the lyrics of the song, to hammer her point home.

While the singer may have a point, she is economical with the truth in that the tune of the two songs are also similar. That she did not address, and that’s where it all started.
