Raila Junior has backed the proposed move by Siaya Senator James Orengo to impeach Deputy President William Ruto.
Orengo on Sunday declared that he would institute the impeachment motion against the DP, arguing that Dr Ruto is constantly in the centre of most corruption cases in Kenya.
As a result, James Orengo has come under sharp criticism from Jubilee Mps allied to DP Ruto.
Through Twitter, Raila Junior on Tuesday said the Senate Minority Leader has a right to proceed with the impeachment.
“Senior Counsel James Orengo is within his right to bring a motion of no confidence just like any other Kenyan can do. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a position of his party ODM,” tweeted Junior.
While vowing to kick DP Ruto out of office, James Orengo noted that DP Ruto can be kicked out of office if it’s found that he has violated the Constitution or any other law.
According to Orengo, Kenya cannot make progress with a Deputy President who is constantly at the center of every corruption case.
“I want to repeat here and now that the Senate together with the National Assembly, we want to bring a motion of impeachment to kick out DP Ruto from office,” Orengo said.
ODM party secretary-general Edwin Sifuna seconded Orengo’s move saying they already have DP Ruto’s file ready for the impeachment motion.
