Police in Kirinyaga have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly murdered his friend and business partner over avocados.
The suspect is wanted for killing one Bedan Muriithi, aged 28, on Wednesday at Kibai village, Rung’eto sub-location in Gichugu constituency.
According to an eyewitness, the suspect confronted Muriithi outside a local bar on Wednesday night demanding to know why he[Muriithi] was selling avocados to clients without his knowledge.
The suspect is then said to have drawn a kitchen knife and stabbed Mr Muriithi twice before fleeing the scene. Residents who got wind of the stabbing later stormed the suspect’s house and razed it down.
The deceased’s relatives claimed the suspect is a well-known known criminal in Kibai village.
The body of the deceased was moved to Gakwegori mortuary in Embu County.
