Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho has kicked off the new year in style by showing off his rapping skills. In a video that has gone viral, the Sultan, as he is popularly known, can be seen challenging a budding rapper to a rap battle.
The video was taken during the launch of a youth empowerment initiative by Mombasa and Kilifi County governments. Dubbed ‘Youth Must Change’, the initiative seeks to identify, support and nurture the various talents in the Coastal Counties.
During the launch at the famous Pirates Beach in Mombasa, Joho said the “initiative aims to educate our youth on the various opportunities presented by Mombasa County and help them exploit the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO).”
He further promised to have the county government double the amount allocated in the budget, towards the Revolving Fund to enable the youth to capitalize on entrepreneurial ventures.
Joho, who is best known for his sideshows, momentarily stole the show during the launch when he took to the mic to battle a young upcoming rapper.
While Joho managed to get some cheers from the crowd, the young rapper was the outright winner in the rap battle that also saw Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi take to the stage.
