Rapper Juliani has released the visuals for his new song ‘Machozi Ya Jana.’
After close to two years’ hiatus from the music scene, the ‘Exponential Potential’ rapper made his comeback in spectacular style by releasing the moving and emotionally stirring piece that seeks to create awareness about social injustices, extra-judicial killings and an end of police abuse of power in the country.
The track, first released in February, specifically advocates for justice of slain trio – Willie Kimani, Josephat Mwenda and Joseph Muiruri who were abducted, tortured and murdered mid last year.
‘Machozi Ya Jana’ is a bold call for police accountability and protection for the vulnerable and weak in our society.
Lawyer Willy Kimani, his client and a taxi driver were killed on June 23, 2016 at Soweto in Syokimau, Mlolongo and their bodies dumped in a river.
During the launch of the song last week, Juliani moved the audience and acknowledged that the song is the most emotional and difficult that he has ever written.
“Most of us have lost a loved one through extra-judicial killings, youths being gunned down by police. My own brother was shot but luckily he survived just because he was hanging with a group of youths who were suspected to be thugs,” Juliani said during the launch.
“It does not matter if you are a thief or a thug, we should give people a chance, that is why there are laws. Because if killing was the solution then crime would have ended by now,” he added.
