Kabuchai MP Joseph Kalasinga placed second with a rating of 78 percent, while Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who often finishes just behind Babu, slipped to third with 76 percent. Taveta MP John Bwire also posted a 76 percent rating, placing him among the top-performing legislators in the study.
Infotrak released the findings during the unveiling of the CountyTrak Performance Index 2026 at Kempinski in Nairobi. The report draws on citizen input to assess the performance of Members of Parliament, Senators and Women Representatives across Kenya, offering insight into public perceptions of leadership and service delivery.
Other legislators featured among the top performers include Samburu West MP Josephine Lesuuda, Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Reuben Kiborek (Mogotio), Gideon Kimaiyo (Keiyo South), Nelson Koech (Belgut) and Kaguchia Gichohi (Mukurweini), each scoring 73 percent.
Other top performers recorded 70 percent approval ratings, including Aldai MP Marianne Kitany, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, Samburu East MP Jackson Lekumontare, Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako, Mbooni MP Erastus Kivasu Nzioka, and Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi.
Infotrak said the survey evaluates elected leaders using indicators tied to public service delivery, visibility, responsiveness, and how well leaders meet expectations, based on residents’ perceptions. It ran between January and May 2026 and covered all 47 counties, 290 constituencies, and 1,450 wards, drawing responses from 87,286 people.
The study treated each county as its own universe and used cluster sampling with targets ranging from 738 to 5,100 respondents, depending on population size and the number of wards. Infotrak also conducted an initial round between January and March 2026 that included 36,200 respondents, before carrying out a second round with 51,086 participants to expand the sample size so that each constituency had at least 300 respondents.
Within each county, the sampling frames used population-proportionate-to-size methods based on census data, while accounting for demographic factors such as age and gender. Investigators collected data through Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) and analysed the results using SPSS.
The latest rankings comes months after Babu Owino earned the top spot as the best-performing MP at the 2026 Politrack Africa Star Leaders Awards. He had also received the same honour from Politrack Africa in 2025, and an earlier Infotrak survey conducted in February 2025 likewise ranked him as the country’s top-performing legislator.
In response to the newest findings, Owino thanked his constituents and Kenyans for their continued support, saying the recognition reflects his commitment to public service.
“We are grateful to have been ranked the best-performing MP in Kenya by Infotrak Kenya. Infotrak recognizes exemplary leadership and performance by leaders from across the country. This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to improving the lives of our people,” he said.
“Thank you to the great people of Embakasi East and all Kenyans for your continued trust and confidence. We remain committed to serving you with dedication and delivering real results.”
